Students are taught by concert and recording artist, Flora Lim. An inspiring and engaging teacher, Ms Lim has a limited number of spaces available for serious students only in her busy schedule. While the musical ability of each student may vary, all share a love for music and a musical imagination that has been captured by the magical sound of the flute. Students of all ages and backgrounds receive private instruction on the flute that is tailored to meet each student's individual needs and interests. Whether a beginning or advanced flutist, all students benefit from having a first-class musical education. Music is taken from a variety of sources to help each student build a comprehensive musical vocabulary.

Students are encouraged to develop their abilities in a positive and supportive learning environment. Listening to recordings, watching carefully selected videos and attending concerts are important parts of each student's musical development. In addition, there are highly-anticipated semi-annual student recitals for which students are invited to experience the pleasure of sharing some of their favourite music with a most appreciative audience. The concerts are always followed by an equally enjoyable “afternoon tea” with homemade gourmet delights!

Weekly lessons ensure regular feedback for maximum progress. and lesson duration depends on the student's age and level of playing. Students will need to rent or own a flute in good playing condition – ask for our recommendations. Regular practising of material addressed in lessons is essential for musical success. Students under the age of 10 are asked to be accompanied by a parent who will be able to take notes in lessons to guide their child's home practising. Younger students may also first start on either the fife or the recorder to better prepare them for the flute. Ideally, the parent of a young student will also be learning to play the instrument to offer further guidance for their child and to share in their child's evolving musical achievements in a more meaningful way.

Selected advanced students may be invited to study with Leslie Huggett.
