Leslie Huggett's 60-year international career includes that of orchestral and freelance musician, soloist, chamber player, musical director, manager, producer, arts consultant and advisor, music coach, music critic and record producer. Before forming, directing and managing the internationally acclaimed chamber ensemble, The Huggett Family, Leslie Huggett performed with a number of the leading London orchestras and in Canada with the Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec symphonies. As well as serving on audition and adjudication committees, Leslie Huggett has taught performance practice at Carleton University and coached many talented instrumentalists currently performing in North American and European orchestras.

He has performed much of the solo French horn repertoire and directed chamber music in recital for CBC radio and television. This versatile instrumentalist also has received a number of Canada Council research and performance study grants (for strings and woodwinds in London and Switzerland). Leslie Huggett with his ensemble has completed 3 cross-Canada concert tours, including 80 sold-out concerts at the National Arts Centre. The Huggett Family's successful collaboration with Harry Freedman and Brian Macdonald for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens' production of Romeo and Juliet alone resulted in over 80 performances across Canada and the United States. The Huggett Family were also featured in television specials in North America on CBC and PBS and in the UK on BBC. While in London, The Huggett Family recorded albums of renaissance and folk music with Sir George Martin (the legendary Beatles producer). Mr Huggett`s success in Europe extends from London's Festival and Wigmore Halls, to festivals in France, Germany and Greece.

Leslie Huggett`s passionate, intelligent and insightful approach to music-making has led him to be a highly regarded and sought-after teacher by discerning professionals and advanced students who seek to carve out an individual place for themselves in the musical world. An increasing amount of his energies these days are directed towards guiding and encouraging professional musicians and ensembles.

Together with his wife, Margaret, Leslie Huggett founded The Flute Studio, where nurturing musical talent in young musicians and passing on his lifelong passion for music have been the driving force from the beginning.

• Nathan Brock (Chief Assistant Conductor of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra)

• Founding members of Quartetto Gelato

• Camille Watts (solo piccolo with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra).
